Gran Canaria Natural and Active, which aims to promote Gran Canaria as a natural destination, keeps on growing thanks to the support of international hiking festivals across Europe. In previous years, Gran Canaria Natural and Active, organiser of the international hiking festival "Gran Canaria Walking Festival" has twinned with acclaimed festivals like Cowal Fest (Scotland), the International Nordic Walking Festival (Italy) or the Walking Festival Ameixial (Portugal). In addition to this, the association has synergies with the European Ramblers Association which already has 3 million members in Europe.

This year the management board has been invited to participate in the first edition of the Val d’Aran Walking Festival. Mr Manuel Palenzuela (vice president of Gran Canaria Natural and Active) participated in the event and the twinning ceremony between both festivals. Thanks to this act, the collaboration that began in past editions of Gran Canaria Walking Festival continues. The Val d'Aran Walking Festival organizers attended to previous editions of Gran Canaria Walking Festival to learn the know-how of the most international hiking festival in the Canary Islands.

The Val d'Aran Walking Festival held from the 2nd to the 8th July 2018. The board of directors of the Gran Canaria Natural and Active presented a commemorating plaque on the 8th July, the last day of the festival.

The VII edition of Gran Canaria Walking Festival will take place from the 24th to the 28th October 2018. It will show the natural and real side of Gran Canaria to hikers from all over the world: its most wonderful spots, its gastronomic and cultural wealth, Gran Canaria as a starlight destination and local people's joy. The festival continues breaking records thanks to the support of new sponsors and more than 50 partner institutions and companies.

Gran Canaria Walking Festival is sponsored by Gran Canaria Tourist Board, Gran Canaria Biosphere Reserve and the city councils of San Bartolomé de Tirajana - Maspalomas Costa Canaria, Villa de Moya, Villa de Agaete, Valleseco y Artenara. It is promoted by partner companies that provide local products with unique snacks, high-quality beverages, exotic and typical products, the varied offer of leisure and experiences on Gran Canaria. The festival is supported by the media and national and international entities.
